Their Faces
A desire to highlight the humanity of those brutally killed by police, racist, or transphobic individuals, led this project. Using neon chalk, I created 4x5 ft portraits of people who were ripped from this world. I drew them on my street in order to prevent my, predominantly white, community from ignoring these systemic horrors. If I could, I always tried to draw them smiling, to highlight the soul behind the face. May our society never forget their names and their faces.
